Energy Tax Deductions - Time Is Running Out

by Robert Holdsworth

Many businesses have implemented energy efficiency measures in their facilities over the past several years to help decrease operating expenses and aid the local and global environment. What a lot of these companies do not know is that sizeable federal tax deductions are available to them and also that time may be running out.

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005) provides generous, immediate tax deductions to businesses for making energy efficiency improvements to their buildings. The federal tax incentives center mainly on efficiency improvements to lighting, HVAC and building envelopes and can be as large as $1.80 per square foot.

The Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 extended Section 179D and EPAct 2005 so the act will not expire until December 31, 2013. However, that does not mean that time may not be running out for some companies.

For businesses that implemented energy efficiency projects in 2006 it is probable they filed their tax returns before April 15, 2007. If they were unaware of the deductions at that time, they are now at risk of losing those tax deductions forever since the IRS only allows a three year period to amend tax returns.

That means if you have not yet amended your 2006 tax return you have only a few months left to do so!

As an electrical contractor working with commercial and industrial customers you certainly have been thinking about ways to increase your sales and likely how to better utilize your current book of business to that end. You have also most likely been approached by your current customers asking what they can do to reduce their energy costs.

Have you thought about a strategic partnership with an experienced engineering firm that specializes solely in turnkey, energy cost reduction projects on a national level? One that can bring whole facility energy solutions to the table for you and your customers? A company that can provide a fast payback and increase cash flow for your customer?

Bringing in such a company will grow your business as you will be the one who is sub-contracted by the engineering firm to provide the installation services under their management and direction. You can use this approach over and over again with all of your customers and doing so will not only increase your revenues exponentially, it will also transform your customers' impression of you from simply another vendor to that of a valued consultant.

The quotes in this first edition include topics that are profoundly related to our everyday lives, such as mystery, judgment and connection. This article is the first part of the 3 "ONE Book Life-Changing Quotes Series".

On transforming judgment

"Judgment often has very little relation to reality."

On the mystery of life

"It's very, very clear that we don't need to know all of the 'hows' and 'whys' of life to keep living on this planet."

"Every single thing we do is to satisfy the need for connection."

"We cannot feel unhappy when we are feeling totally connected. It's impossible!"

"We are designed to constantly seek ways to connect to each other and to a greater purpose."

"'solutions' coming from fear and doubt may not be the most effective ways. We end up feeling more and more disconnected from each other."

"We can only truly celebrate the victory with others when we win together. Then we feel connected."

"This is the game called ONE. The aim of the game is to 'connect'! We keep connecting until we all become ONE.

Promotional Merchandise Will See You Through To 2011

by Liz Logan

The UK is in one of the longest recessions in history with 6% of economic output lost. Despite quantitative easing banks still are not lending to smaller businesses. An estimate of nearly 30,000 businesses closed in 2009 and we are still not out of the woods yet. As a business, if you have made it this far, that is great news. You may have seen some of your competitors fail, lessening the competition in the market. This means even though the market share may be less, you have a bigger slice of it. In the end it will be the strong companies that will survive. The ones that are easy to adapt to a crisis and probably will be strong for years to come.

Even though there are continual economic issues, it continues to be vital to efficiently market your business. A business that doesn't have efficient marketing won't be able to keep thriving. It might be necessary for you to decrease your budget and maintain the areas with the greatest rate of efficiency. Cutting the budget completely could be a huge error. A business that's not obtaining new customers actively can't grow. As current clients go away, the customer base diminishes which means that halting marketing completely might be a deadly error.

This means the marketing that you do needs to have more punch. Successful marketing needs to be targeted; making sure all you budget is spent in the right market. It needs to be long lasting; so the budget is not all spent in a 30 second radio commercial. It should engage your target audience so they notice your brand and know how to contact you. Lastly it needs to have an impact on your target audience; you need to give them a reason why they should come to you and not to one of your competitors.

That might sound like a tall order for any marketing strategist but it can be easily achieved if you follow the method I am about to suggest. It covers all these aspects and is the one that almost all successful companies adopt. It is easy to deploy and widely used. The answer is promotional merchandise.

Promotional merchandise it items that are branded with a company logo and maybe the details of the business and provided to your target customers. You may select from thousands of various items that are a reflection on your audience and business. This is a lot more efficient than other advertising types since everyone enjoys getting something for free. You may select precisely who you desire to provide the products to and these items are taken to the office or house of these exact individuals. It's not necessary for promotional items to bee costly. There are items on the marketing starting at 8p. I'm not aware of another type of marketing that begins at this value.

You may additionally employ this way to award your current customers with corporate gifts. This doesn't merely reinforce the brand, maintaining it in the front of your customer's brains, yet it may result in being awarded with loyalty and as a way of enticing them to purchase additional services from your business.

The Typical Article Marketing Programme To Get You To Success

by John Farcikan

Typical article marketing is not a difficult thing to get into. It also costs absolutely nothing to begin and while there are paid services available, it is essentially free advertising for your website. It doesn't matter what sort of web sites you have, whether it is only making money from pay per click advertising as a simple hobby endeavour.

There are many benefits of article marketing and the most obvious one to begin with is that it is completely free. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't get involved in article marketing and if you are serious about search engine optimisation, then you may well want to consider some of the pain services that are available.

Firstly, if you want to write a lot of articles, you may want to hire the services of a professional content writing organisation. This will help to save you a lot of time and since you can never have too many articles published on the Internet and you can never have too many links back to your website, this can be very beneficial if you have the money to invest.

Likewise, in order to get a huge number more links to your website, you might want to use a program called a unique article wizard. These will send your articles to thousands of websites including article directories, online magazines and blogs.

The amount of articles you should write should typically be what you feel comfortable with and if you want to have an extremely aggressive and powerful advertising campaign, then you may want to hire the services of professional article writing company.

You could also use a unique article wizard which costs a certain amount of money per month but automatically submit your articles, the links to your website included, to hundreds if not thousands of directories all over the Internet. This is highly effective for anyone who is serious about search engine optimisation.

There is no need to ramble on what you should keep your articles within 500 words as a general. This gives you ample opportunity to give some useful information to the reader and to build up an element of trust so they'll be more likely to click on the link to your website in order to find out more and, ideally buy a product from your website.

Answer these Questions Before Buying your First Real Estate

by Rick Chen

So family and friends have been telling you that you should buy your first new house, right? As you busy weighing the pros and cons of the idea, this article would try to help you understand what it takes to buy a new home.

1. Are you prepared to stay put for at least 3 years at your new home? If you are not ready to stay in your newly purchased property for minimum of 3years, perhaps you have to put off this idea now. The reason is the kind of investment with property purchase and the associated fees charged on both buy/sell transaction would simply makes it impossible. You will end up lose money no matter it is a rising or falling market (here you end up losing even more money as your property will have depreciated in price).

2. Boost your credit rating Before you head to the bank for your mortgage application to buy a house, make sure you have an impeccable credit report. When you spot problems on the report, make an effort to correct and fix them. Your credit report would play a big part in deciding if a lender is going to grant you the loan.

3. Find appropriate home loan Banks generally can loan customers up to 80% of the purchase, or 90% for exceptional cases. But there are a lot of factors involved including payback period, your income, age price, locked in considerations, etc. For this reason, it is advisable you use the online calculator to have an overall appreciation of all possible combinations for the loan amount you desire.

4. Size of down payment As mentioned above, banks expect you to put up at least 20 percent of purchase price. When you are not able to pay that amount, you may have to talk to some other lenders like the sub-prime folks.

5. Buy into hot location with good schools If possible find a site where there are a number of popular schools. Reason is school districts are a top consideration for buyers who have school going children. When you want to sell your property, you can ask for a premium on top of a fair evaluation price.

6. Can you find the new home yourself or do you need professional help? While Internet has touched on almost all aspects of human activities, home buyer/seller still prefer physical interactions. Do you have time to shop around the properties that are put on the market or do you engage the help of a professional real estate agent? Sometimes it is worthwhile to get professional help as the agent is familiar with the processes and when he represent your interest, you find yourself don't have to worry about a lot of hassles.

When all above considered and you are even more determined to find your new home, get ready for thorough research on the property market. Past transactions conducted in the area and/or housing type of your choice should give an approximate indication of the real value of the property you are interested in.We are one of the real estate companies in Singapore and we have served our customers in South East Asia Region for years. Our network of agents is strong and we can help you to find your ideal next home for you.

Beginners Introduction To ETF Trend Trading

by Patrick Deaton

As a person entering ETF will find, there is a lot of information available. Some of this information will be free and provided by successful and experienced ETF traders who have blogs, forums, and websites that are extremely helpful. Other sources will have courses and books available that may, or may not, be helpful. This is especially true of ETF trend trading.

There are currently two types of advertising being done regarding trend trading. One that is showing up on a lot of Internet sites offers to teach a person how to do ETF trend trading through a course or book that will make them a huge return on their investments. Some of these courses can cost up to several thousand dollars. The other, and more logical ETF trending information comes from the successful traders who started trending when they learned how to trade. These courses teach a person how to use analytical tools that they should already have more successfully.

The definition of trend trading has been elusive on many of the advertisements that are posted on websites. For that reason many beginners may make a hasty decision without first researching the validity of the advertisement. The fundamental concepts of trend trading are not separate from ETF trading, they are a part of effective ETF trading.

The most basic definition of trend trading is that traders are betting on the financial momentum of a sector. They are betting after analyzing the historical trends of the sector. A trader takes a long position if the trend is on a rise. They take a short position if the trend is on a drop. When the trader feels that the trend is changing they move, even if the time-frame has not been reached for the position.

Trends are either short-term, intermediate, or long-term. When a person performs a technical analysis on a sector they will also find trends within the trends. The bottom line is that for a beginning trader that has been doing the analytical work, and watching for trends in their sectors, and acting on them, they have been trend trading.

There are many subtleties with trends that affect the position that a person takes. There are secular trends that last from ten to thirty years. There are intermediate trends within primary trends. To effectively perform trades using ETF trend trading a person needs to learn about the differences of trends. They also need to be able to make calculations that include current conditions of the sector and future predictions about the sector.

As a beginner, there are some basic steps that one will want to take to reduce the risk of trading. The main piece of the safety net will be to use established buy and sell limits. The current volatility of the market makes ETF trend trading riskier than in the past. There are many variables that affect a sector which may not have been present in their historical data.

When a trader sets buy and sell points they have done the research and analysis to make a knowledgeable decision about the trend of that sector. Analyzing the historic trading volume, high and low prices, moving average, and patters that happen over several years will prepare a person for ETF trend trading. Talking to someone who is knowledgeable in ETF and it's intricacies will prove very advantageous in making decisions that will be profitable.

What Your Body And Soul Crave

by Masami Sato

As the age old adage says, health is wealth. Here we are speaking about soul's wealth. Nutritious food is good for one's health because body can absorb its essence - it is ditto with our life. When we espouse life in its entirety, enjoying all the impressions and sensations in it, our soul will be able to take in its 'quintessence', coming to terms with the core of our existence, and helping us to live our lives to the highest. Masami Sato shares the mystery of living a complete life in this excerpt from her latest book, ONE.

Why is it that many of us, (actually, most of us) now and then feel some sort of a barren sensation in our lives? It is like being ravenous. When we eat, we are satiated and become slightly indifferent to food. But after some time, we once again feel like having food. Then suddenly we are drawn again to the aroma and picture of food. We can also feel strange pangs of hunger when we are not actually craving for food - just after having eaten something. Some of us have a craving all the time.

Perpetual emotional vacuum is not the best of feelings. Then how do we live our lives to the maximum? How can we be more fulfilled forever?

Maybe the answer is easy. Just live our lives totally. The word 'total' holds the meaning of fullness. Then the secret to live a full life is just to live it totally.

Let us commence by looking at a sample of this 'fullness' with something very close to our heart - our stomach.

Whole Food VS Semi Food

We have heard the term 'whole food'. They say that eating whole food is the key to the health and wellness we seek. Then why is whole food so much better than 'half food'?

A complete grain pulsates with a life of its own. If one keeps the complete grain in water, drains it off and keeps it for a few days, it germinates. It has got a full life. When we consume such an item, our body absorbs the full spectrum nourishment. It has the ability to clean, cure and nourish various body cells.

And just like the example of a grain, most traditional eating includes eating whole animals as well. Eating whole fresh fish used to be more common than taking a part of fish and throwing the rest away. It was the same for meat and the same for vegetables.

'Semi food' at times is more sweet and aromatic but does not offer much nutrition. We may savour its taste, but we could become a victim of a long-time malady if we only ate 'semi food' every day of our life.

So, to make up for the missing half, we began to take nutritional supplements. We have been trying and researching for pretty long to find the perfect equilibrium. It gets more and more difficult as we slice the food up, add preservatives and transport, and even try to supplement with other parts coming from various sources, places and seasons. Some of the nutrients are not even from natural resources. They are synthetically generated. After it is tested and analysed, it is approved for man's consumption. But however hard we try, we cannot merge the 'bits' from different sources to make it alive.

Semi Life-'Sweetness' of Life

So, if we looked at our life now, part of what we are doing can be like eating the 'half food'. Just savouring the sweetness of life but throwing away the real nourishing part. And if we soaked our 'half life' in water with other bits and left it in the sunlight, could it shoot and grow into a beautiful whole life?

Whole food is not (as some people view it) insipid. It is in reality very tasty if prepared expertly. But as the demand is minimal, it has become costly. It will in fact prove to be cheaper in the long run though, as we will not have to spend on medicines later on. When more people will opt to have it, it will normally become less costly because it is a simple food with little wastage and processing.

Our life is the same. When we only appreciate the 'sweetness', and throw away the rest in rubbish bins because we don't see its value, we may be wasting the most important part. And the part we throw away could have the greatest power for the sustainability of our life and our economy. It also takes more energy and resources to discard it. Better yet, the part we throw away is free.

So, what is it we are not seeing?

Think of a life where we didn't actually sense we were missing anything there.

The secret is right here. The secret of a full life.

Full Life-The Complete Life

When it's 'whole', it doesn't matter how big the whole is. It can expand simultaneously. It can still contain all the elements to sustain itself as a whole living being. Once it grows to a certain size, it can still live without some of the parts. Like plants can live after being eaten a little by birds or trees still thrive even after losing their leaves. But if we neglect the balance for a very long time, eventually it can start creating a fatal imbalance. Then it could become too complicated to get back into balance.

We do not have to return to prehistoric times to find fullness. Fullness exists in the present. All that is required to do is view intently; view intently enough to actually find.

When we begin seeing our life in its fullness and stop casting out what nurtures our life the most, we start experiencing more and more satisfaction without looking for 'things' to fill the gaps and hollows of our life. Things finally fit into place. We now grasp the intricacies of our world in a completely different manner.

Yes, it is now time to find out how we can create (and see) this balance, continuously and sustainably.

The actual sustaining element of our life is what makes us feel joyful deep down. It is like that component of food that makes our body strong in the long-term. Emotions we feel in our everyday life are the real solution to our permanent happiness. And there are emotions that make us feel more absolute.

The smiles we see when we give acknowledgements to others. The joy we feel when we give gifts to others. The love we feel when we see our children being happy. The inspirations we receive when we feel our life is full of meaning

Let us absorb these moments of our life wholeheartedly and savour the aroma of our full life. Then we will find how it is not obligatory to incessantly fill our heart (and belly!) with earthly satisfactions - those types of things that only add to our yearnings afterwards.

We can actually feel this joy, gratitude and love in order to experience the life as a whole at any moment regardless of the situations. It is not about what we see, what we hear or what we do that complete our life as a whole. It is about what we 'choose to' feel about our life.

Yes, our life indeed is already complete.

When we initiate taking actions based on this knowledge, we can have real control over the balance creation - enduring health, prosperity, enriching connection and delight.

Executive Job Search Tips - How to Create An Executive Job CV

by Jason Lee

Designing of the resume doesn't mean that you get a job. A resume can't make you qualified if you are not up to the mark .A resume won't open up doors or knock down obstacle in your path. Executive resume's are much longer (two or even three pages is the norm) if we compare it with entry level or mid level resume. Everything in the resume should support a specific career target. Resume should present a sharp, focused, cohesive picture of the person that who he is and why he is valuable.

1 Summary - a better option rather than an objective. Starting your resume with a summary instead of an objective is always a better option. The summary should talk about your strongest selling points which would make a reader to get interested in your resume. Make it a point to clearly express the sort of profile you are interested in through this summary of yours. Moreover, it should also speak about your career contributions.

2 Display your work history chronologically. Your resume won't do any good to you if your career history in your resume is not arranged chronologically. It becomes easy for all executives to go through a reverse chronological format after a powerful introductory summary. Also don't forget to include details like job titles, employers and date of employment, even if you want to display some recent work experience. Else your chances of getting eliminated become pretty high.

3 Resume should be in proper order starting with your scope of responsibility then your achievement and your contribution. Contributions that improved the productivity, profitability, revenue, customer satisfaction or other things that contributed to other business activity. An Executive should be more focused on the strategic contribution rather than the administrative task that he has done. Always keep in mind that the resume readers are very smart they can make the assumption on the job title and general description. They don't need everything to be spelled out for them.

4(a) Your accomplishments will have even more impact if you present them in context or in relation to a specific challenge. Instead of writing that you have increased the revenue by 23 percent you should write that you reversed a five year declining revenue trend by focusing business development efforts in niche market. You achieved the profitability for the first time since 2002. You should make the reader to skim through the resume to pick the important information. Use of enhancement, bullets and indications make your information easy to absorb. It's important to keep in mind that you don't make any spelling, punctuation or grammatical error.
