The Federal ban on sports betting has been blasted by anyone who knows anything about the subject for a number of different reasons. Though the US professional leagues suggest that sports betting threatens the integrity of their games, the opposite is the case. The Mapes Hotel: Reno's Lost Art Deco Jewel
The Mapes Hotel in Reno, Nevada met its demise on Superbowl Sunday of 2000 when 75 pounds of explosives packed inside the structure\'s support columns brought it to the ground. The controlled demolition came despite years of effort by a number of groups within the community to preserve the building with lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots lobbying efforts. Arena Football League To Fold, Will Declare Bankruptcy
After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were \"unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months.\" The league had reached a new agreement with players earlier this year, but was unable to convince enough owners that they had a viable plan to return to profitability.
