What You Can Do If You Don\'t Prefer A Particular Job Promotion Offer

by Bill Duggen

As soon as a promotion is offered in the workplace, most people conjure up a picture of better environment at work as well as a fatter pay check. Despite the fact that a promotion will help one to gain better benefits, there are also certain times when one would need to decline it.

However, turning down such a great offer is actually quite difficult. Accepting the offer would mean you will have to leave your present team and start a new relationship with new teammates. It can also lead to a more challenging environment in which you are not sure you can handle and eventually can lead to losing your job if not dealt with accordingly. Thus it is really important that you consider all of the ramifications before taking that golden ticket.

Let\'s say you\'re no longer willing to accept the offer, how would you decline it in a way that no compromises or negative impacts to your position. If you have been working for the company for quite some time now and have been able to establish a good relationship with other workers then turning down a job promotion would be a bit easier. The company would simply accept any decision you make as you\'ve already proven yourself through your years of service and experience with the company. Thus, a simply ?it?s not you but me…? clause to your introduction would be enough.Should a relocation be involved in a promotion which you\'re not willing to take, simply turn it down by providing an explanation on how the relocation can negatively affect your current situation. A good idea for this tactic is to mention that you are having your kids in school and that having to relocate to another place would devastate them. Or ?That would really be a great opportunity for me to further hone my skills however I can\'t accept the offer right now as I can no longer tend to my sick son if I take too much time from that position.? and others.

Another one way to decline a golden ticket without getting a negative impact is to present them with more company benefits if you are on your current job. You can say \"That\'s an excellent offer but I can\'t leave this position now. Specially when I now understand how to maximize production and performance with this job.?

Should you be offered a position which you wouldn?t think of taking, in a gentle manner tell them your key skills and how you should be offered a different position than the present offer. To explain this to your boss or manager, all you have to do is be detailed as much as possible regarding what you do in the office and your key skills in maintaining that position. Show the difference in your performance when on the offered job and when on your current job.

The process of turning down a promotion is actually a bit challenging because it is out of the ordinary and it is simply trying to deny what your bosses want. Fortunately, as you\'ve read this content you can now turn down any offer you don\'t like without having to compromise anything.
