Show Missouri at Fairs and Festivals

by Rick Amorey

In Missouri, people are known for being skeptical. These people are not easily taken in by mere words. No matter how hard you try to convince them of how much something is worth, it's not going to work. You must show them, give them tangible proof that it is indeed worthwhile. "Show Me!" is the State's motto.

Because of this, the residents of Missouri are more connected to realism, rather than idealism. This is not to say they aren't religious or spiritual people; these apply to mundane matters, not to spiritual health. It is only normal that they are immersed in crafts of varying degrees.

If you're from Missouri, chances are you have an inkling for making crafted works, and this is a good thing. Go for the intricate designs on cloth or woven or carved objects, as this will catch the eye of people around it. And it is vital that the crafted item is soothing to the touch; only then will the piece be connected to Missouri's preference for tangible things.

Once you have gleaned enough skill at your craft, whatever you choose to do, it is time to let the world know of your prowess. It's no good when just your family and friends know about it, but as our State motto goes, show me! And by that, I mean the entirety of the State.

How do you go about this? Your crafts are welcome at the different craft shows held all over Missouri yearly. It just takes a simple search online for various schedules and information about these events. Next step is to contact the organizers so you can register and find out booth prices. You'll earn a bit of income, and receive valuable critique or praise for your crafted items.
