Is it always sunny in Florida? That is a misconception. The so-called Sunshine State is called thus because it is one of the warmer places in the United States. And while there is more sunlight here than elsewhere in the country, it gets its fair share of typhoons that are common in all tropical climates.
Even with the occasional rainfall, craft shows, along with the fairs and festivals they happen in, goes on. If you have a rented booth, what does this mean for you? Well, what else? The show must go on. You wouldn't miss out on a day of extra income, would you?
But if you're selling your crafts at a fair, it would be folly to come unprepared. Water is especially proficient at destroying crafts, and so you need to take precautions so that your creations don't get wet. Let me explain some of the common precautions that we bring to the table:
To get ready for possible rainfall, always make sure your crafts aren't on the ground. Not amount of plastic covering crafts on the ground will protect them from the base. The event organizers will give you table, and it's best to use it. In the event it does rain, quickly cover up your table (and your crafts) with thick plastic sheets. Any other waterproof material will work, as long as it doesn't have holes or rips on it.
It's not just about the rain, though. Bear in mind that typhoons will most likely have strong winds, and you will only be frustrated when said winds blow away the plastic sheets you meticulously covered your table and wares with. To prevent this, my suggestion would be to bring along heavy weights and clothesline clips and have them at the ready. In a pinch, heavy rocks will do just fine, just be sure to keep them close by.
